BETTER FARMING NEEDED
In refcrenco to diminution in.milkflow of dairy stock during a spell of fino 'weather,' Mr. .T.. W. Lonsdale, raana- ■ ger. of the Moumahaki Stato Farm, told a "Wanganui Chronicle" reporter that if farmers would only go in for scientific farming, and get out of the ground what it is'capable of producing, there would not bo tho perennial cry regarding tho shortage of feed. To show what might be accomplished under proper methods, ho mentioned that he had 25 dairy cows, sine brood mares, and .40 sheep running on 23 acres of land, and yet the cows arc keeping up well. He supplies them withjohou moulier at tho rate of. 1001b. per cow per day, and if dairy farmers would only make tho necessary provision in green feed they would'be well repaid for their'labour and foresight. Farmers, he said, could havo a variety of crops going, so that if one failed, there would be no others to fall back upon. It was all a matter of arrangement and management, and if his suggestions were adopted, there would not be tho diminution, of bufrtorfat returns -there- are. li proper provision were made, they could havo stock as thick, as they could walk about, so to speak'.
