PORT OF LONDON.
MR. ESTILL AT HASTINGS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) • " Hastings, February 3/ Mr. Estill, commercial superintendent of tho Port of London Authority, delivered a fighting speech hero condemning misrepresentation,, by what ho termed axe-grindiug critics, of tho methods of handling produco at tho London docks. Ho found no fault with other ports for i endeavouring • to divert trade, but, protested . strongly against; persons making misleading statements and displaying photographs scoured at abnormal times (when trado was' congested by a strike) as being the normal condition of affairs in London. Ho quoted figures, to: show, that London was tho cheapest port and tho best and most extensive storage, and £14,00p,000 was to be. expended on dock and accommodation' improvements, showing that ;tho Authority was alivo to the- requirements of -rapid trado expansion.
