Last Sunday d. great crowd of adults and children were on.the foreshore, when two horsemen rodo through them. .Similar occurrences happen frequently. - A Petono suggests that a "ladies' area" be marked off on the Potpno beach. , If an area from Bay Street-to Queen Street were apportioned to women only, the-present nuisance of loungers hanging round would be at an end. The . author of these suggestion states that ho lias remonstrated with many of these loungers, but without success. A' special meeting of tho Petb'ne District High School Committee" will' be held on Wednesday evening to consider matters' connected with the appointment of two assistant teacher's. '■ The public schools in the Hutt■■ Valley re-open to-day. Yesterday the College of tho Sacred ' Heart, Lower Huttv commenced its first term.
