Garden Party. On Saturday last, the Hon. James Allen and Mrs. Allen gave a large garden party at their residence in Duuedin in honour of the visiting members of the- University Senate. The host and hostc93 received their guests on the tennis court, on one end of which was erected a largo marquee for afternoon tea, the tables being delightfully arranged with inauve and purple sweet peas. Mrs. Allen wore a beautiful gown of silver grey niuon over grev charmeuse, with touches of soft rose panic and a largo hat wreathed with grev feathers. Mrs. Montgomery was attired in seagull grey crcpo do chine, with a violet sash and a picture hat of violet feathers; whilst Miss Allen was gowned in grey sillc embroidered with white. Miss Hon a Allen had a pretty frock of soft white muslin. The Regimental Band, which was stationed on the lawn, played most enjoyably during the afternoon. A large number of visitors and Uunedin people were present. •

Wedding at Feiidlng. At St. Jolm's Church, Podding, yesterday, a pretty wedding took place, when Miss Dorothy Pirani was married to Mr. Ernest Perry. The bride looked charming' in a smart coat and s-kirt of whito corduroy velvet, with a hat en suite, and carried a beautiful bridal bouquet. Miss Mario Pirani, who attended her sister as bridesmaid, was attired in a., costume of brown cloth, with a hat of tangerine yellow tagel, and carried a bouquet of autumnal tinted flowers, tied with tangerine streamers. Mr. W. Murray acted as best man and the fiev. Alan liiiies-JoUes officiated. Mrs. Pirani, mother of the brido, was gowned in a croy cloth costume, with a bouquet of shaded sweet pas, .whilst Mrs. Louis Pirani, sister-in-law (of Wellington) Wore, a lii sen itcoloured dress with a hat on' suite, and carried a bouquet of pink sweet peas. Mr. and Mrs. Perry left by motor shortly after the ceremony, for Tatipo and the Hot Lakes, tho bride travelling in a tailor-made costume of Donegal tweed. The presents were both Siumerous and handsome and included several presentations, and the floral decorations were especially beautiful, being the gift- of Mrs. J. Cobbe. The bridegroom a present to the bridesmaid was a pretty gold bangle.

Auckland V/odding. At "Cliffton," Takapuna, by the Rev. Ivo Bertram, of Devonport, Miss Slattio Kennedy, of Takapuiia, Was married to Mr. John It. Crorar, of Napier. Tim bride wore a pretty frock of rose pink shaded silk, and a straw hat of the same shade. The Misses May Cierar and Bessie- Watt attended as bridesmaids, and Mr. W. Watt acted as best man. Mr. and.Mrs. Crorar, are spending their honeymoon in Wellington. The bride travelled in a costume of heliotrono cloth, finished with velvet, and a hat of heliotrope and mauve.

Mrs. and Miss Squire Stevens, from Now York, arc visitors to Wellington, and are staving at "Keailworth," Hill Street. Mrs. G. Cniickshanks is leaving ,lnvercargill" shortly on a twelve months'' tour of the United Kingdom, ' Mrs. C. S. Haniann, of .Timani, has returned from Australia, via Auckland, and is doing Rotorua on her way home. The Misses Chapman arrive from Dunedin to-day. During their southern visit they have done si walking trip to Milford Sound. Mr.' and Mrs. W. Handyskle, of fjivercargiil, intend sailing ' for London about the. end of next month. Colonel Holgate and Mrs; Holgilte returned to Auckland last week from a twelve months' visit Home. Mr.s. Booth, from Feildiug, and Mrs. Moore, fro in Nelson, are among the visitors staying at "Keiuhvorth." Archdeacon Jacob and Mrs. Jacob left Timani this week oft a trip to the Southern Lakes. Mr. and Mrs. Bevan Brown, of Christ - church, are staying at "Kraiilworth." awaiting the arrival of their son from England. Miss Winiperis, from England, is the guest of her aunt, Mrs. Joachim, at Dunedin. Mrs. .T. Thompson is leaving early next month for Manila. Mrs. Bowden and family, of Christchurch, have arrived home from their English trip. ' Mrs. Stanlev Hume, from Pahnerstriu North, is in Wellington at present, and is staying in Hill Street. Mrs, and Miss Greenwood have been holiday-making at Blenheim. Mrs. Andrew Hamilton, of Karon, leaves next Wednesday for Rotorua, oil a month's ,visit. Miss Miua Caldow, the Wellington contralto, who has been visiting friends in Dunedin and Invorcirgill, will arrive hero this morning. Dr. Agnes Bennett is not staying at Levin as was stated yesterday. She ha 3 Concluded her holidays and is in Wellington. Mrs. Francis Stevens and Miss Doris Slovens arrived by the Moeraki on Wednesday, from a tour of Englnsid, Ireland, and the Continent (Rome, Florence, Venice, etc.). _ Mrs,. Stevens is at present staying with Mrs. W. Sevens, Hay Street. Mrs. Cyrus Smith, who is leaving next week for England by the Rotorua, gave a most enjoyable farewell afternoon tea on Wednesday at "Kenilworth." The drawing-room was charmingly decorated 'with masses of roses, hydrangeas and sweet peas of various tints. Mrs. Smith received her guests in a gown' of floral silk, veiled with black chiffon.
