"A Student of Prnguo," a weird pic-tui'o-drnmii, is tho great attraction this week at tho King's Theatre. It deals with tho sale or' a soul to the devil, and tho mystical sotting makes the story doubly interesting. "The RoseCarnival at Cliristchurch" is a drlij|'iit< ful picture,- showing tho recent festival in tho Cathedral City. '*A Doll for Baby" is a touching drama, while "Beauty in a Scnsholl" is highly amusing. Tho progfatni.no will bo repeated this evening. The full programme will be shown at n matinee performance on Saturday afternoon at 2.80. HIS MAJEST?s"THEATRE, At His Majesty's Theatre, tho current programme is proving an excellent attraction, Tito skater, Lo Brun, and the Carpos Bros., "star" equilibrist!), do turns of great merit, while tho extravaganza, "Rovongo is Sweet," in which Cromor and Arnold appear, causes much merriment. TTIE EMPRESS THEATRE. Tho now programme at tho Empress Theatre Continuous Pictures to-day will; comprise two "features," Tho first | will be tho A.B. Company's sensational foreign spy drama, "For Her Govern- 1 mont." It is represented in the plot that a notorious burglar who has been residing in Paris is commissioned to obtain possession of a valuable' rccipo for a new and powerful explosive, tho secret of which is kept by tho inventor in America. Tho burglar, now a spy for France, marries a young Parisian and takes her to New York to assist him in his plan. Tho true character of her husband is wot known by the young wife, but sho is eager to help him to secure tho lecipo for her Govorumont. Tho plot is frustrated under exciting circumstances at the last moment. Mr. Harry Corey takes the leading role, and is assisted by Miss Claire M'Dowell. The other '.'feature" is an Edison "roasterwork" entitled "A. Royal Romance," which embodies a delightful love story set amidst beautiful. surroundings. MITCHELLTOWN SCHOOL CONCERT. An enjoyable concert- was given in tho Mitchelltown School last evening in aid of tho school picnic funds. The programme was a varied and interesting ono, and included instrumental,' vocal, and elocutionary • items, interspersed with comic numbers. During an interval tho chairman of tho Mitcholltowu School Committee (Mr. "W. H. Hampton) addressed tho audience on matters relating to tho school. His .ehiarks arc reported under another heading. Those who contributed to the programme were as follow:—Mrs. Archer, Misses Lcnzjni, Easson, and Lindsay, and Messrs. P. D. Barchani, Richards, Culvcrwcll, H. DM'Carthy, Robins, Peek, and Richards, vidal items-(comic and serious); Mrs. Baroham, pianoforte solo; Mr. 11. G. Shakes, humorous sketches; Mr. Jones, 'cello solo; Mr. O'Donncl!, recitation ; and Mr. F.. Major, conjuring.. The accompanists woro Mrs. Barchani arid Miss Easson.
