"The Student of Prague," a picture which attempts to toll, a story that is almost allegorical is the best showing at the Kind's Thoatro this week. Tliero aro in patches of the film somo truly wonderful examples of what can bo achioved by photography nowadays, and somo of tho scenes are uncanny to say the least of them. It is a film of uncommon interest, one of the very best ever presented here. ■ , " THE BRITANNiTtHEATRE. Now thoroughly established as a popular picture house, tho Britannia Thoatro had no lack of patrons all day yesterday. Best of tho new pictures this Tvcjk :is '''''■Widow , . Moloney's Faith," a drama of Irish life, tho theme of which is of the sort that is evergreen, if not original. The supporting programme is varied and interesting. ... THE EMPRESS THEATRE.' The last appearance of the current programme of the Empress Theatre continuous pictures is" announced for today and-to-night. Tho principal attraction is the A.B. Company's feature drr.ma "Tho Houso of Discord." _ The' film occupies' over half an hour in tho soreening, and is : abundantly interest-' ing throughout. There nro somo splendid views of the, interior of ,an.AmeriT can millionaire's mansion, including a scene at a grand ball. The ballroom is magnificently equipped with a fairy fountain, and scores of; stylishly-dressed guests waltzing present a brilliant spectacle. Altogether, the picture is a most: attractive one. -Of-tho rest, "Ca.use for Thankfulness" (Edison masterpiece), "Tho Mataros" (wonderful acrobats), and "Around Belfort" (sconio) are deserving qf special mention. The comic numbers 'are immensely amusing. A new programme will ap- ( pear to-morrow. ■ • • / ': ■' ROYAL ARTILLERY -.BAND. Arrangements have been mado for the famous Band of the Royal Regiment of Artillery to re-visit Wellington on February G, and a sories of concerts will, be given hero on. February 6, 7, and 8, at. the Town Hall'and Athletic Park. This famous band has been in Auckland since the beginning of December, undoi a special engagement to the Auckland Exhibition. Further negotiations recently conducted with the British Army authorities enabled the season' of the band to bo extended for an extra month, and the opportunity was seized by the Exhibition executive to send the Band on tour, to allow those'who had been unablo to visit Auckland an opportunity i!o hear its magnificent performances. ' The Band has already played at D'unedin, Tiraaru, Christchurch - , and Wellington, on its way to Auckland; and in each of those centres it met with a. success entirely commensurate with its splendid reputation. The Exhibition itself owes a great share of its success to the presence of the. Band, which has played every day to enormous audiences.
