THE CANDIDATES TO DATE.
The announcement that Mr. David M'Laren has been selected as a candidate for the Mayoralty by the United Labour Party has quickened the interest in that event, which lakes placo on tho last Wednesday in April. Rumour has already been biisy with moro than one name, among them the Hon. T. W. Hislop and Mr. Edward Tregear, but neither of these is lilJtely to go to the poll.- From present indications it is,more than likely that the contest will bo a straight-out ono between tho sitting Mayor,' Mr. J.
