NO APPOINTMENTS YET. In tlie course of a week or thereabouts tho Attornoy-Gencral will be in a position to announce who arc to be tho two now Judges to bo appointed under tho Judicature Amendment Act of-, last session. The original intention was that two additional Judges should ho appointed, but after tho elevation of Sir Joshua Williams to tho Judicial .Committee of tho Privy Council, tho Bill was amended to provido for tho appointment of only 0110 extra Judge. There are now, therefore, only two appointments to be mado, 0110 Judge to replaco Sir Joshua Williams), and one ofclier Judge. Of course no information on the subject .has been given by Ministers yet, nor will any bo given until the'appointments have been made. Sir Joshua Williams's . resignation does not take effect until the end of this, month, and tho Judicature Amendment Act does iirit como into force' until February 1. It may bo accepted as certain that in accordance with the 'praetico, hitherto, Mr. Justice Sim will drop the Arbitration Court work, and will devote his attention wholly to Supremo Court work. It is generally reported that Mr. J. H. Hosking, K.C., of Duncdin, will be one> of the new. appointees, and ■Mr. J. W. Salmond, Solicitor-General, has been mentioned as likely to be the other..'
