| NEW BILL IN CANADA. By Telegraph-Press Association— Cop.vrielit Ottawa, January 22. The Government is negotiating with Doivning Street regarding the proposed Asiatic Exclusion liill. It is not known yet whother the total exclusion of Asiatics has been decided on, as negotiations along these lines is still proceeding between the Canadian and Homo Governments. Tho former luvs already decided to introduce an Immigration Bill before the present session ends. UNITED STATES AND JAPAN. THE ANTI-ALIEN LAW. Washington, January 22. Tho House of Representatives' Immigration Committee has declined to reopen the hearing of the Baker Bill, excluding Asiatics. . ' . Members explained that tliey wished to licar from Mr. W. J. Bryan, Secretary of State, before taking action. Tile Japanese Minister's address, as delivered at Tokio, was read and discussed thoroughly. Mr. Bryan declined to say whether it was proposed to reply to tho last Japanese Note, but he thought tho situation was now diplomatically better. It is understood that Japan refuses to abandon treatment of the whole question bv diplomatic methods. (Ilec. January 23, 10.30 p.m.) Washington, January 22. High officials connected with the State Department expect that the United States and' Japan will agreo upon a new treaty governing the admission- of Japanese into the United Stater.. Although Japan as yet lias not requested a now treaty, it is believed that tho President's next niovo will be along such linen.
