CAUGHT A TARTAR.
-—■ —«- —— INTRUDER IN A NURSES' HOME. (By Tekerapli.—Press Association.) Auckland, January 22. .A call for help was received at the Central Police Station at a quarter past ono this morning.from the Nurses' Residential Club, in' Upper Queen Street. Immediately a constable was sent to the house, and he picked up another constable- on the way. Arrived there they found an under-sized youth, named Francis Patrick Silva, need about 18 years, sitting in deshabille in ono of the upstairs rooms, and held a. prisoner by a ring of nurses armed with walk-ing-sticks. Tho constables were informed that about one o'clock some of the inmates were aroused', hy someone in tho house, and further investigation being mado, they discovered that they could deal with tho situation themselves till tho police came. So several nurses armed themselves with walking-sticks, snapped on the lights, and dared the intruder (who was in a bedroom) to move until they gave the word. Ho was still bailed up thus when the police came. Silva stated that he took his boots off outside tho house, and climbed up the verandah to tho Iwlcony through tho windows of which he got into tho house. His explanation of why ho went into the place suggests that his mental condition is not normal, and, when he appeared at the Polieo Court this morning .on a charge of breaking andentoring, he was remanded till next Wednesday 'or medical observation. ■' ' '
