Pthird professional examination,'and who. V has been, recommended for re-examina-J-.tion by tho examiners, shall be'admitted rto a special examination, to bo held in (■■the month of July, provided that he has Kdnring!tyiei' , poriodintervening between [examinUSioii arid re-examination) acted j-as a surgical dresser, medical clerk, 'as-Vststant-houso surgeon, or assistantjhouse physician in any general hospital in Dunedin, Christchurch,, Wellington, or Auckland, and'provided ■ that candidate obtains permission from the Faculty of Medicine',to attend the practice of ono of such hospitals, and shall have forwarded to .the Registrar, "at least 15 'flays before' tlie dato of reexamination,'it'certificate from, the principal medical officer of the said hospital that he has performed his du,ties satisfactorily A candidate who fails Jin this special examination may, with ltho like permission,'during the further fintervening period, continue to attend }tho practice of one of such hospitals, iand all other candidates who fail to ■pass the third professional examination must keep, terms for one year before they cafi be readmitted! .to examination. The ftps for tho special examination .'■shall be" 10 guineas. : 2. Nevertheless a candidate who has failed in only ono or two subjects of his third professional examination, and has been recommended for, re-examina-tion by the examiners, shall bo allowed to present himself for re-examina-tion in such subject or subjects at a subsequent examination, provided that, in suflirro-examination, a candidate who has failed" in either surgery or clinical snrgcry shall present himself in both of these subjects, and similarly, a candidate who has failed in either medicine or clinical medicino shall present himself in both of the last-named subjcpts. If ho then passes in the subjects for which ho presents himself, ho shall bo deemed to havo passed tho whole of: tho third professional examinations.- The- fee for such re-examina-tion (if taken at the special examination in July) shall bo 10 guineas or (if taken at tho January examination) 5 guineas. Such candidates must comiilv witTT the conditions herein laid down for attending; the practice of a recognised hospital during the intervening period or. periods. , Tho report was adopted and referred to the Statutes Committee.
