VICTORIA COLLEGE COUNCIL.
Tho monthly meeting of the. Victoria. College Council was held at tho college last evening... Present: Messrs H. IL" Ostler (in the'chair), .W. Ferguson, T. R. Fleming, J. : Mflgumity,' R. M'Callum, M.P., and C. Wilson. Accounts amounting to £874 18s. lid. wero passed for payment. Tho Finance and General Purposes Committee- reported:— '_ (1) Mr. A. R. Atkinson has," by letter dated December 22. 1913, resigned his membership of tho College Council. In terms of Clause 11 of the Victoria Collego Act, the Minister of Education must be notified thereof. ' (2) The Victoria College Lawn Tennis Club appealed to. the council against the decision of the Professorial Board that the college lawn tennis courts may not be-used on Sundays. Tho matter was referred to the Professorial Board, and they report'xl that they wero aware of no reason why their decision should bo reconsidered. ■ The committee recommends that the decision of the Professorial Board be upheld. (3) The committee still has under consideration matter of a scheme to enable the college to meet tho offer of the Maoartby Trustees. (41 The committee submitted a draft of the. conditions of the appointment of a registrar, and recommended that tho position be advertised in the four centres in the Dominion. . Consideration of Clause 2 was held ovor until next meeting. Tho Finance Committee was'authorised to open and tabulate the various applications for thu position of registrar, the same to bo' considered by the tfuncil at its meeting on February 18.
