Voitch in -. an 'auctioneering ■ business. He took a prominent part in looal politics, was for many years a 'councillor, and held the position of deputy-Mayor at the timo of his death. He was also vice-president of the Labour Party. Ho was well known in musical and theatrical circles, being .'on the executive of tho North Island Band Contest Association, and a member of tho local Licdortafel. He piloted Madame Dolores round New Zealand 'when", the latter visited these parts.'' The lato Mr. Jluir, who was a member of tho Masonic fraternity, took n keen interest in ' sport, and'acted as secretary of the Christmas Carnival and Fast- Cycliii" Club. Some years ago he was president of the Northern Union Football Club,, and secretary of tho Walißamii Bowling Club. Tho news of his death has caused a profound sensation, as deceased was so widely known and popular. He leaves a widow and four young children.
