FIRES.
j ♦ SIX-ROOMED HOUSE BURNT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Tauranga, January 21. A six-roomed house, owned by Mr. T. W. Rhodes, of Coromandel, and occupied by Mr. Jelley, was badly gutted by firo this mo/ning. The furniture was uninsured. Little was saved. RACECOURSE STAND DESTROYED. Hastings, January 21. The stewards' stand at the Hawko's Bay Jockey Club's racecourse was destroyed by fire about 6 o'clock this morning. The building was twostoried one, which included the jockeys' room and secretary's office, and was to have been sold by tender to-day* for removal to make room for a new stand. It was. insured for £350 in the Commercial Union office. The cause of the firo is unknown.
