HOLIDAY ARRANGEMENTS
- Anniversary Day, which will bis observed to-day as a general holiday ia the Wellington Province, provides ■• a suitable date- for the holding .of a number of important sporting fixtures. Tho chief attraction for residents of Wellington and district, will ho the second day's racing in connection with tho Trenihaiu Summer Meeting.. Another race meeting will he 'held at Foxtoii. Cricket matches will bo played on the Basin Reserve, KeHmrno Park, and at Wellington , College, the most important of these being that between tho 'Wednesday and Saturday representatives on tho- Basin Reserve.
The Karly Settlers' Association lias arranged a big reunion,.'which will "include old-time sports, children's sports, and amusing sideshows at Newtown Park.
Other local events include the Wellington and Pctorn? Yacht and Motorboat Association's regatta to be held off the Clyde- Quay Wharf ,• -swimming sports at, Worser Ray, aiid athtclie sports at Seatoun Park.
The Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennis Championships take place at Mastertoti, while at Otaki there will be an inter-club tennis match, Victoria Collego v. Otaki, and fiii;thw;...aficld .tha DnivneyivUo Lawn Tennis ChiVs championships at- Dannovirke.
