SOLICITOR'S FEE.
AN INTERLUDE IN COURT. A lawyer raised a question of precedent in the matter of solicitor's fees in)the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Mr. J. S. Evans, S.M., Baid that he would fine the dofendant in the case under consideration at the time £1. "Will your Worship allow solicitor's fee?" asked Mr. T. Young. Mr. Evans: I will fine him 10s.j and allow solicitor's fee 10s. 6d. Mr. Young: I would rather not accept anything than half a fee. It is a bad precedent. Mr. Evans: I am at liberty to allow fees from half a guinea to two guineas. Mr.' Young: Yes, but I prefer, for the sake of precedent, to accept nothing. Mr. Evans: Very well. Hβ is fined £1. No solicitor's fee.
