The Princess, With great presence of mind, fell to the ground) feigning death, and the murderer, running to Cherif Pasha's study,, met Siili Bey, her son-in-law, who had jumped out of bed and rushed into the- corridor in his pyjamas. Picking up a revolver, ho exchanged shots with the assassin, but failed to hit him. He escaped" tlio assassin's fire, and ran to tlto' Princess's bedroom, snatched up her revolver, and shot the assassin in the heaO. Eighty, cartridges were found in the man's pockets.
