THE WAIKANAE YEARLINGS.
At 2.30 p.m. on Friday, January 23, the annual sale of AVaikanae yearlings will tako place. It is claimed for the fourteen youngsters who comprise this year's draft that they are tho finest lot yet offered in Wellington. Last season in New Zealand, Achilles's two-year-olds won more in stake money than the progeny of any other sire, with tho solitary exception of Soult. Although the yearlings sold from this stud in January, 1912, realised 2500 guineas, they won as two-year-olds more in stakes than their total purchase money. This season, which is only half over, the progeny of the stud have won over £4000, and of this amonnt tho two-year-olds have. won just half. There aro some very lino youngsters to bo sold, and the breeder, Mr. Lan Duncan, anticipates a very successful sale.
