DRESS SLACKNESS.
WHERE TERRITORIALS FAIL. 'An officer" of experience who was oresent during tho wholo of tho Auckland Military Tournament, expressed himself to a reporter yesterday, as being exceedingly pleased with the splendid work dono by the Cadets, both at physical drill and route marching. It was rather unfortunate, however, that somo of tho Territorials did not take more prido in tho way they nut on their dress. It was a simple thing to dross proDorly. and any slackness reflected on "tho Service as a whole. In _ a fow cases men wore observed travelling by train dressed partially in uniform and partially in plain clothes, and it was easily seen that a tweed cap did not lend itself as an adornment .to a Territorial uniform. This practice in public excites comment, nnd the public naturally think that, men so slack about their dress cannot hn very keen about their drill. The men, however, were quite keen where tho lalter subject was concerned, nnd their slackness in dress was felt to ho duo more to carelessness than anything else.
