Briand, leader of tho new Social and Democratic Union Party in French politics, in an. interview, said that Mr. Lloyd George, tho British Chancellor of tho Exchequer, had too much inipulsivenesG, too much ardour, in fight. These defects were tho excesses of virtues of the Celtic race, and were never understood. Mr. Lloyd George, said M. Briand, was weakening on the Entente Cordiale, but as Chancellor ot iho Exchequer, and a man of peace,-was seeking to lessen tho strain of political finance.
