"SUPPRESSED!"
A. LADY AND HER KFA'S IN COURT. COURT. : She arrived in court about twenty minutes before tho sitting commenced and waited with an expression of rather petulant anticipation. She made a somewhat incongruous figure in a bright blue dross, and her hat of tho same colour placed rather awry on her head, while stray strands of hair obstinately protruded from under it. Perhaps tho main point about tho lady in question was a-pair of. immense keys that dangled and jingled from tiie string from which they were suspended. No matter where she went these keys, with their gentle, yet audible, tinkling, betrayed iwr whereabouts. At length the case alio waj interested in eanio up for hearing,- and with an expectant little clutter of tho keys tho lady settled herself in a chair in tho court. Her "man" was being brought up on a charge of being idle and disorderly. A constablo went into tho deck, and made ' statements most uncomplimentary and damaging to the accused, and the listening lady's standing, It was too much for her, and with a menacing jangling of keys sho advancer! to tho centre of the court and indignantly exclaimed, "You are a deliberate liar." ■ Sho refused to bo subdued, and at length, amidst an alarming clanging of keys, sho was escorted front the court by two constables. The case proceeded quietl.-, save that l'iow and then n distant tinkle proclaimed the fac-t that tV indignant lady was still tripping about somewhere in tho proscincts of tho court. Suddenly tiiero was just the smallest succession of tinkles within tho court; the lady of the kevs was onco more in on parole. She triumphantly took a scat. 'The temptation to interrupt, however, was too strong within Iser, and on seeing her partner in difficulties she strode to the centre of tho court and mado an indignant explanatory statement. Her moment of grace was elided for ever nor, and slio was "immediately suppressed, " and amidst protesting clangour from the keys she was hustle*! from the court. The tinkling grew fainter and fainter, and then died away. The court was rid of the "lady, of tho keys for that morning, at- all event?, ■
