Nelson, .whero- ho-will probably settle. .The following interesting particulars arofrom a Ceylon paper reports tho Nelson "Mail" :—Alter twenty-five' years in Ceylon, the well-known resident of Badiiila, Mr. J. G. Veall, leaves by the mail boat tomorrow for Now Zealand, where ho intends to settle down to fruit cultivation .or sheep farming. Mr. Veall will bb joined by his family, who aro at present in .England, in the spring of nest year. It is interesting to know that thero are several well-known CeyJlon men who have successfully settled down in Now Zealand. Among others is Mr. A. Melville Jameson, formerly well known in Uvn as "Borneo" Jameson, who ia. sheop-farming at Timaru, and wo hearVthat he is tho likely coming presidentAof. the South Canterbury Agricultural ' Association. Another former TJva planter who is down there is Mr..R. P. Hudson, brother of Mr. Thomas Hudson, of Glcnamore. He is eilgagedin fruit cultivation near Motu-eka,-near .Nelson. Mr. Hudson lias just had the high compliment paid him of being elected president of tho Fruit Growers Association of New Zealand. Mr. Veall, who is held in great esteem ■in TJva, had a very pleasant send-off from the planters and residents last Sunday, about forty planters having come to Badulla to bid him farewell. Mr.:-Veall arrives in Sydney about December 'li, and leaves on December if\ for Wellington, whore he is duo on December 30. 'i ~. i\'.'iThe now dairy buiU. some time ago at the State .['"arm (states the "Horowhomia Chronicle") is a fine, large, airy building with a concrete floor. The floor has a good fall, and can easily bo washed down. . Everything is kept scrupulously clean. There, aro two cool rooms, the walls and ceilings of which are filled with pumice'' and are one font thick, thus ensuring coolness in tho warmest weather. A lino large cheese room and two curing rooms havo also been provided, and it is intended, if the services oF the expert can he permanently secured, to take up making fancy cheese, such as Welsh and cream cheese.
