Harris, J.P., •at the Magistrate's.Court to-day, ami charged that, on or about January 2, 1914, with intent to commit a crime, ho attempted to cause a young woman to be affected by chloroform. He was remanded till to-morrow. DUNEDIN WATERSIDE WORKERS. Dunedln, January 5. ffi<~ At the first annual meeting of the new Waterside Workers' Union (Arbitration) to-night, it was reported that.the membership was 285. Subsequently 45 applications wero received from members of tho old union, and tlieso wore admitted, bringing tho strength up to 8-10. BRIEF MENTION. Timaru, January 5.
