At the inquiry which is being conducted by the Homo Office with regard to the mine disaster at Senghcnydd, in Wales, Mr. Shaw, tho mino manager, in his evidence, said that tho mino was gassy and dusty. After the explosion two lamps were found open. Presumably they had been opened by a lampman. The lamps might have gone out after they were opened. ■ The witness admitted that baro wires were used for electric signals, though he never saw sparks emitted. Mr. Shaw added that he believed that a blower of gas dislodged a rock, which emitted a spark of. explosive mixture, tho latter being forced against the open lamp. • -_^
