Albany, the sculler, lias submitted his claim to tho New South Wales Rowing League in connection with his proposed race against Barry, tho world's champion scuDer, for the championship as against the claim of Paddon, on tho grounds that lie was first in the field, nnd, secondly because Barry must, by the rules of the championship, row '• ; 'ii for £200 a-sido or forfeit the title.' ■ ■ •, Barry replies that ho recognises tho challenge of Paddon, as coming first. If he rows Albany, the raco must not he for less than £500 a-sidc. Barry is quite prepared to meet Albany for this amount. ——■—■ ■" .
