THE HONOUR OF THE GREEN ISLE. It is not'always the fun of the world to bo Irish.- Two fervent sons of tho verdant isle discovered this during the festivo season. Joseph King: and Michael Joseph Bignan wero standing outside a Courtenay Placo boardinaliouse on New Year's Day. Said Kiug to Biggan: "I think I'm a countryman of yours." "I think you'ro not," said Biggan. _ Whereupon King. proved his Hibernian origin by accompanying his reiteration of his assertion.with a hefty punch. Biggan retorted by razing King to the_ altitude of. tho flagstones. Yesterday morning tho two met in tho dock at the Police Court. Biggan told the story, and reckoned King ivould dp mail enough to admit tho truth of what ho said.
The Magistrate: What have you to Bay, King? Is this correct?
King: I said I was a countryman of his. i He said: "You're not." So I sthrucb him. 1110 two were convicted of having used threatening behaviour. King was fined £1, and Biggan was convicted and discharged.
