The Right Hon. W. F. Massey, Prime Minister, spoilt a satisfactory'day yesterday. Ho was inundated with congratulatory messages from well-wishers upon his elevation to the Privy Council, and- most of the messages expressed wishes for his speedy recovery.
Tho Right Hon. W. F. Massey, the Hon. H. D. Bell, and tho Hon. A. L. Herdman are in Wellington this morning, tho Hon: W. Fraser will'arrive today, tho Hon. J. Allon remains in Dunedin, the Hon. R. H. Rhodes in •Christchurch, and the Hon. W. H. Herries and the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher in Auckland.
Mr. A. S. Malcolm, Chairman of Committees in .tho Houso. of Representatives, is on his way to Hokitika, to attend tho jubilee celebrations next week.
Mr. H. Jacobscn, who landed the first people in Grcymouth on March 17, 18G2, is leaving to-day for that port to attend the Westland Goldfield Jubilee.
The Vcn. Archdeacon G. H. Gossctt, with his wife, is expected to return to New' Zealand by. the Rotorua on Monday.
A passenger for Sydney by Messrs. Lever Bros.' steamer Kalumbangara, which sailed last evening, was Mr. William Turnbull, tho well-known local architect. Ho is accompanying Sir William Lever to Sydney to inspect tho company's work there boforo commencing. to design tha new soap works at Petone, where it is possible a miniature Port Sunlight will in timo be developed. Mr. Silas Wall, a veteran well known to tlie older rifle shooting men of the Dominion, is at present lying ill in the Wanganui Hospital.
Recent English papers to hand announce the death of Mr. James Hcarn, tho ■ well-known actor, who was known ns one of the best exponents of character parts on the English stage. Ho started professionally under Mr. Ben Greet, and was for a. long time associated with ■ Sir Johnston Forbes Robertson. More recently lie was a valued member of Sir Herbert Tree's company.
Captain P..C..Pcrani will leave Auckland by tlio next boat for Sydney, en route for England, where ho is to have eight months' training with the Royal Flying Corps, at Salisbury Plains.
It is the privilege of' few to celebrate their hundredth Christmas. The "Otago Daily Times" says there resides with Mrs. H. George, at Belleknowes, n hale, fresh-looking lady, Mrs. Anne Go'w. by whom the Christmas chimes, on December 25 last, were heard for the 'hundredth time. Born tlio year before Waterloo, Mrs. Gow will oomnleto Jior hundredth year on August 23, 1914. 'Although of such a great ago that sho can look upon her descendants to the fifth generation. Mrs. Gow shows scarcely a wrinkle, eats well, .moves about the house and grounds quite independent of assistance, and lies a remarkably retentive memory.' She has lived in Dunedin for 43 years.
The Mataura "Ensign" understands that Mr. Robert M'Nab is to be asked to contest the Mataura seat at next election. It is stated that lio will ncccde to the' request:—Press Association.

Mr. R. R. Treasure, locomotive foreman at Timaru for the past seven years, who is retiring on superannuation after 30 odd years' service, was made a presentation by the running staff of tlie station yesterday.—Prcfcs Association.,
