After shipping this the cruiser left, and the matter was not reported until sho arrived at Kingston, when it was announced that tho captain had been deprived of his command. The cruiser was in a deplorable condition, her boilers wore leaking, whilo the bottom was covered with barnacles. '' '
After several violent telegrams had passed between the captain and the Admiralty, tho latter made the captain the scapegoat"for its own neglect.
