The Royal Packct Steam Navigation Company's steamer Tasman (0023 tons), outward bound to Java, which went ashore on Bramble Cay (an istet in tho Gulf of Papua), and now lies in a dangerous position, has ten feet of water in her holds. Steamers havo been dispatched to her assistance. The passengers aboard include two of tho United States Panama Exhibition Commissioners and Madame Kord'ica. (Rec. December 30, 0.50 a.m.) Sydney, December 29. According to the latest- advices the Tasman's position is critical, there being 23 feet of water in the holds. Tho water is gaining rapidly, moreover, and tbero is small hope of getting the vessel off. , Salvage gear has been dispatchccl from Thursday Island and elsewhere for tho assistance of tho passengers, who aro still safe on board. They will bo taken off in ono of the salvage steamers. Tho Tasman lias a general cargo oh board, and also 60 or 70 horses for Java. It is understood that the cargo is covered by insurance, distributed amongst various companies, while, tho htilt is insured in Homo offices.
The steamer's position is rendered the moro serious owing to the. strong currents which are setting hi to tho coral reefs, whero tho vessel is stranded.

STEAMER LUDGATIC REFLOATED, (Rec. December 20, 11.15 p.m.) Linden, December 29. Tho steamer Ludgate, which wont ashoro on the Moroccan. coast, wheresome rebel tribesmen fired on the crow, has been refloated and is now at Gibraltar.
