Wedding at the Hutt. - The marriage took place very quietly last Tuesday in St. James's Church. Lower liutt, of Miss Ellen Bebecea Greenfield, youngest daughter of tho late Mr. Greenfield, of Wellington, to Mr: Albert Edward Brown, third son of the late .Mr. F. Brown, of Wellington. The liev, Joshua Jones performed the ceremony. Tho bride wore n gown of beautiful ivory coloured lace, with a long train lined with palo blue chiffon, and a veil, fastened with clusters of orange blossoms. Attending her as bridesmaids were her two little nieces, Nlarjorie and Dorothy l?ose, and a niece of the bridegroom, little Marjorie O'Shea, all of whom were daintily frocked in white muslim trimmed with torc-hon lace and muslin insertion, with white muslin hats trimmed with blue ribbon and satin dahlias. They carried long crooks, to which were fastened clusters of pink sweet peas. The bride carried a bouquet of white flowers. Tile best man was Mr. S. Brown, brother of the .bridegroom. Only tho immediate relatives of both families wero present, and after the ceremony they were entertained by Mrs. W. H. Rose at her residence. Waiwera House. Mrs. Brown, the mother of the bridegroom, wore a gown of navy blue silk, with a black hat, and the hostess, Mrs. W. H. Hose, wore black lace over white silk, nnd a black and white hat. Tho bride travelled in a saxo blue moire coat and skirt, and a pink hat lined with saxe blue and trimmed with a cluster of pink ospreys. Tho bridesmaids presents from the bridegroom were pearl bangles.

Tho "British Australasian" representative was told last month by tho London representative of Messrs. J. C. Williamson that a powerful comic opera company, under tho managership of Mr. Richard Weathersby, will sail for South Africa by the Armadale Castle at tho end of this month (November). After a six months tour there, tho company will proceed to Australia oil a prolonged tour/ The company, which will confine itself exclusively to Gilbert and Sullivan operas, includes: Miss Ruth Lincoln,; Miss Pearl Ladd, Miss Ethel Morrison, Miss Mania Trent, Miss Katie May, and Messrs. Charles It. Walenn,. Albert Kavanagh, Derek Hudson, Frank Lewis, and Edward Miss Morrison, Who is tho principal contralto, is a native of Wellington, and M. M'Keown, tlio principal tenor, of Sydney. Miss Lincoln, the principal soprano, toured Australia and Now Zealand in 1909-12, and Mr. : Kavanagh also toured thtro with the "Chocolate Soldier" during 1910-11.
Mrs. J. K. Cochrane is at present stajing in tho Lister private hospital in Abel Smith Street. Slio has been ordered a complete rest.
Miss Munro (Ma-sterton) is visiting Auckland and Rotorua.
Mrs. Rolleston and tho Misses 801 l leave for tho Bouthorn Lakes this week.
Miss Gray (Masterion) is visiting Wellington, and is staying at tho Occidental Hotel.
Mr. and Sirs. A. E. Brown have taken Mr. W. l'carce's house at tho Hutt for their residence. 'I'liev are expected to return from their travels this evening, and will spend a fortnight at Bell&vue Gardens before going into their own home.
Miss Johnston, who is spending six months at Kaikuura, returned to tho Hutt for Christmas, which she spends with her father, Captain Johnston, Victoria Street. To-day slio leaves for Picton, where she will stay with Sir. and Mrs. E. Kenny for two or three days .before proceeding south. Mr. arid Mrs. 11. M. Ratlibone and family, of "Abbotsford," Vs'aipawa, are sponding the Christmas holidays with Mrs. Rathbone (senior) at Lower Hutt. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Wafbiirton hare taken a cottage at Bay's Bay, and are at present entertaining relatives from Hn.wke's Bay. Madamo Cope-Dowsing is visiting Cliristchurch, and is the guest of her mother) Madame Winter, of "The Chalet." Miss Tendall and the Misses Houghton (2) left on Saturday for Peloriis Sounds, where they intend to spend tho i next thrco weeks. Miss N. Stewart, of Christchureh, is on a holiday visit to Wellington, and is staying with her sister, Mrs. T. H. Dyer, of "Fcrnloigh," Hataitai. Tho Rev. E. P. Ketlow, of the Methodist Church, Gonville, and Mrs. Kcllow, were tho recipients of presentations from the members of their congregation and from the children of tho Sunday School on Christmas night. From the congregation they received a Surse of sovereigns and from tho fcliilren a fountain pen. Miss Rothenberg leaves for Christchurch on Friday' night.
Miss Dora Hertford (New Plymouth) Ts visiting Wellington. Hiss Winder (Wellington) Miss Balgarnie (London), Mrs. Alan Douglas, and Miss Douglas are. spending the Christmas holidays at the Mountain House, Egmont. Mrs. and Miss Baylc-y (New Ply. mouth) are visiting friends in Palmers, ton and later they como to Wellington to stay with Mrs. M'Naughtoti Christie.
