COAST MINERS AT WORK.
■' THE EMPLOYEES' ATTITUDE. (Br, Teleeranh.—Press Association.) ' Westpori, December 29. At Granity to-day work was resumed at the Westport Coal Company's colco ovens, which havo been idle during .the strike. At Stockton tho permanent hands were at work at tho bins dispatching coal to "Westport. Tho Wcstpoft Coal' Company's Dennisfcon incline, was also at work lowering coal taken from tho company's bins to send it to Westport. A number of police, were in attendance whilo the operations were in progress,, but no attempt was made to interfere.. It is reported that'tho Federation of Labour dolegato asked if ho would be allowed to confer with tho coal-owners in referenco to the resumption of work at tho mines in this district, and received a reply in the negative. He further asked if delegates from the unions could do so, and got a similar reply. This is taken to mean that the miners must come under tho Arbitration and Conciliation Act, and that there must ho personal application for work.
