NAPIER NOTES.
During tho four days ended Christmas Eve, 5465 messages wero forwarded from the Napier Telegraph Office, and CSDff were received. On Christmas Eve alone 2314 messages were forwarded, 2595 received, and 6067 transmitted. . About £60 will be added to tho Hastings Cottage Hospital Association's funds as a result of the motor cycle sports held on Boxing Day. Mr. V. Wyke, late chief reporter of tho "Hawke's Bay Herald," has joined tho literary staff of the "Jluwko's Bay Tribune."
Considerable, interest is being taken in the Boy Scouts' camp, which is being held at Napier. Some 124 boys are under canvas, eight districts being represented. District Commander O. C'ossgrove, who is in charge, of the camp, expresses himself delighted y.-jth tho progress made by the boys', who are undergoing a course of tracking, scouting, and physical and other exercises. He states that it is tho intention to hold a big camp at Palnicrstoii . North at the end of the year, to which the whole of the scouts of the North Island aro to be invited.
