Tho annual distribution of Christmas fclieer by t'ho Girls' I{ealm Guild'took place on Monday night in tho clubroom, Laihuton Qti.iy. Toys and siveets wero Bent to "the following institutions:—St. Mary's Home, Karori; Aro Street Mission, I'rosbyterian Orphanage, Homo of Compassion, nwl. Central Mission. Twelve private families also received Substantial help, while the lepers it Quail Island received a large hamper of puddings, sweots of /all sorts, and a iiumber of .grttmaplicmc records. >
The Salvation Army Citadel, in Vivian Street, was crowded with children between the hours of half-past six and eight o'clock yesterday evening, when tho Christmas treat, arranged on their behalf by Commissioner ilichards and Mrs. Ilichards, took place. Fully livo hundred tickets had been given out, and from that a fair estimate can bo gleaned d£ tho number present, wliilo to Bay that the sounds of revelry could bo hoard for somo distance down tho street would bo no exaggeration. Tho interior of thocitadol had been decorated with quantities of small flags and ropes of coloured balloons, and toys of varir ous kinds had been carried from side to Bide of tho building. Upon tho stags were to bo seen unlimited treasures, in the way of toys, packets of sweets, and all sorts of pleasant things. A Father Christmas Wis present to assist the Commissioner and Mrs. Richards in dispensing tho gifts, and music provided by tho band added greatly to the pleasure of everyoho present.
