The strike along the waterfront utterly collapsed to-day, and tho Fedorationists went in a body to tlio now Waterside Arbitration Union and asked to bo enrolled. Tho new union has 76 members, with 20 applications from outsiders and 66 applications from old watersiders. This means that a lot of men will liavo to seek other avenues of employment It is anticipated that the miners will decide to resume work under the Arbitration Act immediately after the New Year holidays, the earliest at which they could probably be opened. Despite tlio depression consequent on tho lengthy period of idleness, the town wears a- smiling appearance at the rout of' tho Red Fed., whoso yoke tho workmen feel they have borne too long.
