EDWARD HUNTER IN COURT.

THAT PARK SPEECH. There was a good gathering in the Magistrate's Court .yesterday morning, when Edward Hunter, a miner from Westport, was charged beforo Mr. J. S. Evans, S.M., with having made nso of seditious words in Newtown Park on the afternoon of Sunday'last. Mr. H. 11. Ostler appeared for tho Crown, and asked for a remand till Monday, December 22. Mr. I'. J. O'Regan appeared for accused, and applied for bail. Mr. Ostler did not object to bail, but' asked that it should bo made substantial. Ono would have thought, ho said, that incitement would have been 'stamped out by now, but apparently it was not. The Magistrate saw no reason for any departure from tho amount of bail fixed in other cases of a similar class. Tlie words were of tho same character. Bail was fixed in one surety of £250, and two of £250 each.
