To-dav the touring- team :of American athletes will be competing at Duncdin, and on Monday the party leaves tor Wellington to participate in tho ing two-days' carnival at tho Athletic .im on " oxul fi Day and December 27 llio gathering will almost, attain the 1 proportions of an international meeting. In addition to those of ths American champions, entries have been received from a)i over the Dominion The certain starters include Gerald Keddell. of Southland, the ehanmkm lumllpr and record holder, whoso series of duels with R. 'lemplcton on tho tour are arousing so much interest; \V. J. J)'Holm, of Napier, holder of the Australasian liam-mor-throwing record; 1,. J. Mark, 100 yards provincial champion of Auckland, sumKT. Saunders, tho Southland sprinter. Tho local sprinter, Ashlev Duncan, 100 and 220 yards champion of. New Zealand, lias been training assiduously for some weeks, and is running really well at present, and there is every prospect of the sprint. runninE at the meeting being of an exceptionally hj«h order. Naturally enough the chief interest of tho carnival will centre ution tho meetings between 11: Templcton" and G. P. Keddell. There will be two clashes between this pair, one on each day. over 75 yards and 120 yards respectively. Over tho shorter distance, over low hurdles, tho Culifonuan holds tho present world's record of 9 seconds, and although tlie_ distance will bo a novel one for the New Zealand and Australasian champion, it is one for which his pare and neat fencing peculiarly fit him. Tcmpleton will also figure prominent- ' ly in tho field events. Ho intends assailing the New Zealand records for tho high jump and pole vault, and with his compatriot, ■ Caughey, _ will give exhibitions of discus and javelin throwing, Caughev, too, has designs on the New Zealand and Australasian shot record, and on his southern performances has these figures at his mercy.
