TRESPASS IN SOMALILAND.
LONDON JOURNALiST ARRESTED. By Telcerapli—Press Association—Copyrlslit London, December 17. Mr. Alan Ostler (special correspondent'of'the "Daily Express" in Somaliland) lias been arrested for travelling ill that territory without permission. (Rec. December 19, 1.20 a.m.) ■. London, December 18. Mr. Ostler crossed Somaliland in defiance of official warnings, ostensibly to investigate tho Mad Mullah's activities, and,the condition of the protected tribes. He was lined £183, with tho option of two months' imprisonment. Mr. Ostler declares that ho will not pay tho fine.
On his'return to-London from Somalila nd.'MW ilMn'Ostlir,' %'pbci.il Correspondent of tho "Daily Express," stated that since tho withdrawal of British support from the Friemllies in Somaliland, there had been atrocities equal to those in the Congo. The Colonial Office, lie said, was seeking to suppress the facts. The formation of a camel, corns ,was largely tho outcome, of tlissc horrors. Tho' native quarter of Berbera in July, 1912, ■ was filled with starving, mutilated friendlies, some of whom trailed themselves along on their hands, owing to their feet having been lopped off.
