HEAD CONTROL'S JIEETING. A meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Ro.ving Association was hold on Friday evening last, those present being: Messrs. R. W. Jl'Yilly (in thechair), R. JI. Isaacs, E. E. Coughlan, J. E. AViddop. U. Lauchlan, E. lnness, and A. D. Bayfield. Jlr. R. W. JL'Villy was appointed chairman of the council for the entiling year. A letter was received from tho council of the New Zealand Swimming Association, asking that the New Zealand Rowing Association's support be given to a proposal for New Zealand to havo separate representation at the Olympic Games. It was decided, after giving careful consideration to the matter, that the council at' present could not Bee its way to support tho proposal. In reply to a question submitted by the Southland Rowing Association regarding the travelling expenses of competitors to regattas, the council ruled that actual travelling and -hotel expenses could bo paid, but not-out-of pocket expenses." A sub-corimiittce, consisting of Messrs. Widdopj Lines, and the secretary (Mr. Beyiield) was appointed to draw up a report submitting the definitions of an eight-oarcd boat for use ia the Dominion waters. The revised rules submitted by the Auckland Association wore approved. Their application for permission to hold a championship regatta at Mercer on January 29 was also approved. Owing to the strike Auckland has been unable to make arrangement," to hold a regatta on the Waitomata, an was originally intended, and it was on account of this that the council granted the application. Tho council .notified the retirement of Messrs. W. C. Scale (Auckland) and H. F. Tillcy (Wanganni) from the secretaryships of I heir respective associations. Private advice received in Wellington yesterday states that "Billy" Hannan, th,e Australian light-weight, who has taken part in numerous contests in tho Dominion, has added to Lis victories by a win at his native town., West Maitlan'd. N.S.W. White, who recently defeated Elliott on points, was knocked out by Hannan in the second round.

WELLINGTON CENTRE MEETS. The Wellington Head Centre of the Royal Life Saving Society met last evening, Mr. G. S.Hill presiding. The secretary of the Packakanki Railway Surf and Life Saving Club wrote making application- for -n life-saving reel. On the motion of Mr. G. Neal it was decided to donate- the sum of £7 65.. the cost of a reel. The resignation of Mr. R. C. Wood (secretary) was accepted with rer/.ret. The Town Clerk (Mr. J. R, Palmer) wrote stating that the society's application for free passes for the use of instructors fir life-saving.: to tho.
