WESTLAND JUBILEE.
(Bi t^Vum-nh— Pr«a Association.) Hokitlka, December 16, A 'meeting of the Westland Jubilee Celebrations General Committee was held to-night. A letter was received from the secretary of the West, Coasters' Association, Wellington, ■ suggesting that in view of the strike the function be postponed. The question was fully discussed and it was unanimously decided ta adl'ere to tho original programme, which is to commence on Januarv 7, as the- arrangements were so well advanced. It was reported that a large number of people from all parts of tire Dominion had written intimating their intention of being present, and in view of the fact- that they had _ made their arrangements accordingly it was deemed unwise to depart from what had been decided upon. An elaborate programme of entertainments has been arranged and the various branches . of amusement which are to he provided arc calculated to add considerably to the enjoyment of visitors. Special facilities for visiting Lakes Kanieri and Mahinopua- and the other scenic resorts are included in the, attractions, and the celebrations generally;should mark an important epoch in the history of .Westland.
