(By Tolcsraph.—Press Association.) Dunodln, December 15. Tho first wool sale of tho season was held to-day, when 4722 bales were offered. Thcro was a largo attendance of buyers. Tho shortago in quantity offered was duo to tho wet weather, causing dclav in shear; ing. Competition was very ltwn to buyers' limits for ligh't-condi tioned clips, the demand coming principally from Continental buyers, who were Tcspcmsiblo for prices being a fraction too liigli for Yorkshire mill 6. The following shows tho range of prices;— Merino, medium to good. lOd. to 103 d.; inferior, 7Jd. to 9Jd.; halfbred, 6nper, lljd. to 12\d.j medium to good. lOd. to lid.; inferior, Bd. to 9jd. Crossbred—Super, ltd. to 103 d.; medium to good, .Bid. to 93d.; inferior. 7Jd. to ed. Pieces—Super, 9jd. _ to ltil.; medium to good, 7kd. to B;d.: inferior, Sri. to 6d.; locks, 3d. to 43d. Compared with last year, merinos are about on n par. except for Inferior, which was }<1. lower. Super halfbred and super crossbred showed <1 drop of 2d. to Jd. This ; if? due almost ent'rely to the absence of the American demand and the removal of tho American tariff enabling operators to take lowerquality wools. Good to medium crossbred and halfbred declined Id. to 15d.: and inferior, Id. to lsd. The demand for pieces generally v.ss very slack.
