Miss Bradfield, the victim of the Canal murder mystery—in connection with which two men have been arrested —took a lively interest in Sumner, ono of tho'arrested men, who is a man of powerful physique.' His lodginghonsekeeper states that ho had long scratches ou both cheeks on Wednesday. The police believe Miss Bradfield was tho victim of an attempted outrage, and her resistance led to her murder, which was committed in a storeroom. Stacks of tarpaulin deadoned her screams. Eltoft states that Sumner asked him to throw tho sack into tho Canal. Ho was not aware of its contents.
