HOME-GOING OF THE SPECIALS
AT ADDINGTON. TRIBUTES TO THEIR CONDUCT. (By Telccrnnh.—Press Association.) Ghristchurch, December 14. the special police camp at Addington was broken up on Saturday, tho services of the men being no longer required. Of tho ]0U men left in camp U> went to join the special police forco at Lyttelton and the remainder left for their homes. At mid-day tho camp was handed over to tho uniformed police force to watch. It j s stated that arrangements have been made whereby ,tho men can bo called together if required at very short notice. Colonel Richardson, who has been in charge of the camp, said that it would be impossible to speak too highly of tho conduct of tho men in camp. "Nobody had shirked his work, and excellent discipline had been maintained. "What had impressed him particularly had been the lack of complaints, especially when the men carried out guard duty duriii" tho recent inclement weather. "A finer body of men I have never como across," added the colonel. "Every man was willing to do his share of tho work, and in consequence, thero was no grumbling What greatly added to tho success of the camp also was the commissariat and ambulance. The people also contributed their share to the good work. Tho men liavo expressed tho highest appreciation of them."
