Tho report comments on the fact that shareholders are patronising competitors' vehicles. Tho Taradalo Town Board has appointed Mr. J. R. Martin to represent tho district ■on the Napier harbour Board, in place of Mr. P. Dolbel, who was unseated owing to assigning hi? estate. '- ' , The action.'of-the'Public Works Committeo of tho Napier Borough Council iu deciding to recommend the taking of a poll of ratepayers on the. proposed tramways extension to Hastings Street South, and deferring tho proposed Hospital Hill extension, - which. IoQO residents petitioned tho council to proceed with, is being severely criticised, and it is highly probable that -when the council meet it will decido to placo both proposals before tho ratepayers. Councillors Hill and Sponco are opposed to any extension being made until a bal-ance-sheet for sis or twelve months has been placed beforo thorn. Tho Bishop of Waiapu (Dr. Avcrill) and Mrs. Avcrill returned to Napier yesterday from Auckland. Mi'. H. M: Phillips, a member of the teaching staff of tho Napior Boys' High School, who is severing his connection with tho school, has been presented by tho boys with a handsome set of pipes, as a token of their respect-. Mr. J. Cassih has been appointed chief engineer at the tramway powerhouse, vico Mr. T. P. Hewitt, resigned. The traffic manager,'Mr'. J. Tho Taradalo Town Board intend conferring with tho Napier 'Borough Council, with a view to arranging an extension of tho trams to that district.
