KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL

The fortnightly meeting of the Karori Borough Council was hold last evening. Tlioso present were: The Mayor (Mr. C. Cathie), and Councillors Burn, Hamilton, Braduock, Davis, Lewor, Boves, and Skegg. Councillor Lower inquired from the Mayor whether tho council had any jurisdiction over the class of fenc'o which owners of property erected in the borough facing the street or road. Tho answer was in the negative. The questioner stated that he referred to some unsightly fences in tho borough. It was decided to close, the Borough Council offices from December 2\ to January 6. Tho Borough Engineer (Mr. 6. Brigham) reported that work on tho Makara Hill hrealvwind had been delayed on account of strong winds and wet weather, otherwise the work would have been finished by Thursday next. About two-thirds of it had been completed in concrete. A part of tho wall had been stripped and inspected by Mr. G. Monk, of the Makara County Council, who had expressed himself as svcll satisfied with tho wall and the road widening. Tho Teport was adopted.
