MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
TWO CITY DRIVERS AT LAW,
In tho Magistrate's Court yesterday Ernest, Edward Moyes, a motor : car driver, sued Walter Baldwin, eab proprietor, for £17 Is, 3d. for damages sustained in a collision between the -vehi--cles of tho respoctivo parties. Baldwin counter-claimed for £18 3s. Cd. Each party alleged negligence against tho other. Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr, J. J. M'Grath for the defendant. Mr. Evans, S.M , pave judgment for tli-e defendant on both claim and ■counterclaim. In the eourse of his ovideneo Baldwin stated that ho had been driving a cab in Wellington for twenty-eight years and had never even been proceeded against for a breath of the city by-laws. THE DEBT CASES. In tho following cases Mr. Evans, S.M., entered judgment for tho plaintiffs by default:—Harry Brooks Mason v. Alfred Olscn, £13 55., and costs £1 lis. Cd.: A. J. Jacka r. T. A. Chamberlain, £5 6s. 2d.,' and £1 3s. Gd.; Moult and Alexander v. F. Miilmi.li, £2 145., and 18s.; G. Doughty fiul Co. v. Charles Adams Clark, 2s. (balance on account), and 18s,; Watson and Eyre v. Samuel Dowdnll, £1 10s., and 75.; Field, Luekie, and Toogood v. Arthur Lewis Williams, £4 Gs., and 10s.; David Henry Kirk v. Arthur C. M'lntvre, £4 10s, 5d., and 10s. G. B. Newton was ordered to pav H. Baker £6 3s. by December 23. POLICE CASES. For insobriety, Norn Nugent was fined £1, and John Vobbe 10s. Charles Limbers was fined £1 for having been disorderly while drunk. Tlic-so defendants were dealt with by Mr. \V. G, Riddel!, S.M.
