Tlio man Joseph Davis, aged 75 years, who caused a sensation in the height of tlio striko excitement by reporting that lie 'had found golignito on the rails on tho Main Trunk railway just before tlio Wellington express was due, pleaded guilty in tho Supreme Court this morning. Ho was also chargcd that, with intent to do grievous bodily harm, ho laid two plugs of gelignite, with fuso and detonators attached, at Grcenlane railway station. Mr. Justice Edwards said ho recognised that accused had hitherto borne a good character. No doubt tho offenco was due entirely to tlio weakening of his mind with advanced years, but that very circumstanco mado him more dangerous to tho community. Ho sentenced Davis to reformative treatment not exceeding fivo years. ... ....
