RABBITS FOR THE DORSET.
OTHER DUNEDIN CARGO. (By Telcgraph.-Proas Association.) Dunedin, December 8. . Tho membership of the new Watersiders' Union is now close on two hundred. Although a number of men have brcn released to return to the country there wore 183 at work this morning, Seventy-eight of these were operating 011 the Kaiapoi. Tho Wanaka, which arrived yesterday l'rom the north, lias brought 'iOO tons of sugar, 3000 Vases of bananas, -000 bags of now potatoes,and a miscellaneous cargo. A proportion of tho bananas are rather ripe, but on the wholo tho fruit has arrived in good condition. Only four Arbitrationists are working this ship, but tho fruit companies havo their own staffs to lift consignments. Tho Dorset. Turakina, Storm, and Marere, aro also being worked. Tho Dorset is loading 1200 crates of frozen rabbits hero, and a spccial train will arrive in the morning from tho Bluff with 6000 crates of rabbits for the samo vessel. At Po.-t Chalmers this morning, Messrs. Miller Bros, mado a start, at getting tho launching ways ready for tho new tug—a work that was suspended when tho shipwrights struck. At a mooting of strikers this morning it is understood that they decided that strike pay would be paid.
