MASTER BUTCHERS.
DECISION RE CHRISTMAS CLOSING. At a largely attended meeting of tho Master Butchers' Association held last evening the qunstion of Christmas closing was discussed. It was decided by a large majority that all Wellington and Petone shops which como under the jurisdiction of the association _ shall close from Christmas Evo until tho following Monday morning. This period includes Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and the Saturday and Sunday following. The Saturday will bo a holiday on account of it having been decided to hold the butchers' picnic on that day.
The Lyttclton By-election is to be held to-day. A great deal of interest is being taken in the contest.
