ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES;
THE SIAKABA FATALITY. Mr. W. G. HiiktTsJL, opened an inquiry yesterday concerning t.l-io death of John Tonks, who was drowned nt Jlalsnra on Sunday. Only one witness —Stephen Bryant, an Ohami farmer— was called, Mr. Bryant merely deposed'to recovering Tonks's body from a place in which there was about fift. of water and two feet, of nrtici. Tk. body was. in the mud. The inquest will he resumed at 0.15 this morning. In the account of the fatality which appeared in yesterday's Uominhon, it was stated that the unfortunate youth, John Yonks, was tbo son of Mr. Enoch Tonks, of Webb Strot. Mr. Enoch Yonks was the boy's ptraiidfather, and Ins father was Mr. William Tonks, of Thompson Street. FOUND ON THE BEACH. Sergeant Foster, of the Petonc Police, brought tbo body of mi infant into the city morgue last night. The body, which was found on tile Petoiio beach, was in a _ decomposed state, and haß ; not been identified. DISTRESSING FATALITY. Auckland, l.Xvr.inbcr S. Roy Leaning, aged two years, son of Mr. Ernest Leaning, Royal Terrace, R-plnucva, died at the Hospital yesterday as a result of scalds received Uio previous day. On Saturday morning be was playing in tiie kitchen at Isis pireuts' residence, and fell into a tub of hot water, while the . attention of those in the room was temporarily distracted. Dr. Hunt was summoned, and oiilered his removal to the Hospital, where be died yesterday afternoon.
