Mr. Phil Wilkinson, who will produce The Laud of Nod" for Mr. \Villiam Anderson at the King's Theatre, Meh bourne, on Boxing Night, has been conliocted with tho stage in America since ho was seven years of age. At thattime two performances wcro given—a musical burlesque or vaudoville entertainment until 11.30 p.m., and a melodrama from midnight until about 3 a.m. Ho wont to school at!) o'clock : u tho morning, caino homo at 4 o'clock :n the afternoon, and, after a light meal, ■wont to bed. His mother woke him at midnight, and ho was taken to tho theatre in timo for his part, about 1. a.m. Immediately it was over ho was hurried home, and sent to bed again until it was time to get ready foi school. The King has sent congratulations to Mrs. Eek'cc-a Heed, of Sutterton Lowdyke, Lincolnshire, who ltcceuliiy celebrated her 189 th birthday.
